Australian theatre producer Ross Mollison has found success in selling snow to North America during winter. His hit production SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW last week smashed the Off-Broadway Box Office record for takings in one week.

Now in its third year in New York, Snowshow grossed a staggering $US 354,159.50 last week at the Union Square Theatre, the highest weekly gross in Off-Broadway history.

Ross Mollison said today, “We are thrilled with Snowshow’s continued success as we near our 1000th performance in New York. The show is a celebration and therefore a natural choice for people wanting to have a great time with their families and loved ones during the holiday period.”

A second production of Slava’s Snowshow is simultaneously playing in Los Angeles at UCLA’s prestigious Royce Hall, where it has been one of the most popular attractions in the venue’s recent history.

“We were doubly thrilled last week to have completely sold out our current season in Los Angeles. Celebrity guests recently included Dustin Hoffman, who brought his son and grandson to the show,” Mr Mollison said.

Created by Russian clown Slava Polunin, Slava’s Snowshow has been seen by audiences in over 80 cities around the world and was winner of New York’s 2005 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. The show melds the unbridled hilarity, and the unexpected poignancy, of the art of clowning with stunning spectacle and awe-inspiring visual images and fantasy, culminating in a blinding, heart-stopping snowstorm that engulfs the entire audience.
