What's On

Netgirlz

NETGIRLZ is new Australian anti-theatre like nothing you’ve clicked on before. Rip that sticker off your webcam and take a peek deep inside the void. The internet would never do anything to hurt you... right?

NETGIRLZ is a low-res mashup of all your favourite internet tricks and tropes. An experimental new comedy by Georgie Adamson (Whose Uterus is it Anyway) and directed by Mikaela Atallah (The Damsels Destress, A Period Piece) exploring the blind trust we put into a beast we can’t control... The World Wide Web. Through an anti- linear, episodic narrative, NETGIRLZ asks all the important questions: What do we do when we catch a catfish? How far can we take fan-fic? And who the F**K is MoMo?

Starring Madelaine Osborn, Jessica Murphy and Sammy Taylor.

Mikaela Says

‘We wanted to make this work because we’re scared of the internet! It’s something we’ve trusted with our entire lives, but we don’t know what it’s going to do next!’

Royalty Free Theatre is a collective dedicated to deconstructing the hierarchy of our arts culture and practice, aiming to make works that challenge theatre protocol (a.k.a, they’re f**king weird, yo!) They’re coming off the back of two successful seasons of NETGIRLZ v.1 (107 Redfern, 2018) and Agent Showcase (Sydney Fringe, 2018). They also produce Holiday Specials, artist scratch nights at 107 Redfern.

NETGIRLZ is being presented as part of FreshWorks Femme at the Old 505, a festival of fierce, incredible theatre-makers and performers.

Venue: Old 505 Theatre
