THE TURK IN ITALY

The Turk in Italy is one of Opera Australia’s most daring and playful productions. Director Simon Phillips presents the uproarious Rossini comedy with a brilliant cast of leading opera talents including Paolo Bordogna as the Turk and Stacey Alleaume as the daring Fiorilla. The colourful score is complimented by the clever cartoonish sets and gelato-coloured costumes which offer a veritable feast for the senses. Conducted by the masterful Andrea Molino, the famous bel canto music of this comic opera skips and sparkles from the gruffest of bass notes to impossibly high soprano, unmatched in energy and guaranteed to have audiences pealing with laughter.
