“If you don’t die soon, I think you’re going to kill me!” When Kemp receives a phone call from his estranged aunt who claims she is old and dying, he travels across the country to pay her a visit, but as it turns out she’s not going just yet. As the seasons change and the weather turns from good to bad to good again, Kemp’s own dysfunctional youth and thwarted dreams come to light in this delightful black comedy.
Not to be confused with the one-woman cabaret from 2017, director David Collins is excited to present the Melbourne premiere of Vigil, a darkly funny and poignantly tender comedy.
"Staging Vigil in the current climate has been difficult, but I also believe it is in many ways perfect timing. Underneath its black comedy and sardonic quips, the play explores loneliness and showcases the vital necessity of human connection. Vigil has been one of my dream projects for years and I'm so happy and excited to finally introduce the audience to such excellent writing delivered by two fantastic performances."
