|Titus O'Reily 'Reflections Of A Sporting Tragic' at Melbourne International Comedy Festival|
Titus O’Reily returns to Melbourne International Comedy Festival to reflect on a lifetime of obsessing about sport and wonders, why do we do it?
Sport fans have always been odd. They’ve called in bomb threats to stadiums when their team is losing, they’ve rioted after losses and rioted after wins and one even sprinkled their mother’s ashes on the field… during a game.
They’ve also thrown snowballs, darts, live animals, bits of ice, coins, mobile phones, batteries, flares, metal chairs, bottles, beer, fruit, golf balls, rocks, hotdogs, firecrackers and a leg of lamb at players, officials and each other.
Having always lived vicariously through a group of 20-year-olds who are completely unaware of his existence, Titus reflects on the strange mentality of being sports obsessed and questions whether he’s wasted his life.
Come for the laughs, stay for a man having a break down on stage.
Titus’ lightning quick, clever and hilarious social media sports commentary, regular columns for the Herald Sun and appearances on The Project, The Front Bar, and breaky with Chrissie, Sam & Brownie (NOVA) have collected him a dedicated 300,000+ social media followers. With three hilarious best-selling books about the funny side of sport (A Thoroughly Unhelpful History of Australian Sport and A Sporting Chance: Australian Sporting Scandals and the Path to Redemption and Please, Gamble Irresponsibly: The Rise, Fall and Rise of Sport Gambling in Australia) Titus once again brings his brilliantly funny musings to the stage at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
