Sidesault at the Melba | |||
Now in its third year, Sidesault at the Melba is a festival celebrating innovative and experimental circus work. From November 7-17, The Melba Spiegeltent and Circus Oz will present six new shows from a range of emerging artists and companies including feminist ensemble GUSH and Indigenous ensemble Na Djinang. Experience a space transformed with stunning new visual artworks interplaying with spectacular physical feats; encounter stories of lost cultural identity through to a plain old-fashioned quest for revenge. Sidesault is about taking risks, pushing boundaries and creating a hub for innovation in contemporary circus performance. In supporting a new generation of circus artists, Sidesault is helping to break down barriers between the performative arts and explore the potential for what circus is and can be. In 2018, Sidesault at The Melba was nominated for a Green Room Award for Innovation in Curatorial Contribution & Programming in the Contemporary and Experimental Performance category. For boundary-pushing, contemporary circus: check out the program and book now! Festival passes – including the three and six-show passes – provide additional per-show discounts on tickets.
