Theatre Works and Oozing Future present the premiere season of

Created and Performed by Mitch Jones

In the aftermath of an apocalyptic social collapse, one person survives. But he’s still hungry...

Addiction, obesity, corruption, over-consumption. Why do we do things that we know are bad for us? On all fronts, Homo sapiens seem to be intent on wiping themselves out.

Drawing together elements of circus, performance art, BDSM culture, and clowning, AutoCannibal is a riveting new experimental work of solo physical theatre that explores ideas of resource depletion, environmental exhaustion, and social decay. What will we eat when we’ve consumed it all?

Well known and much lauded by lovers of bizarre and provocative performance, Mitch Jones (aka Captain Ruin) has performed around the world as a professional unusualist with a silver tongue and a golden smile – escaping from strait jackets, throwing knives, and eating fire. Joined by international emerging Director, Masha Terentieva, AutoCannibal heralds a powerful new evolution in his creative practice, drawing on years of experience making avant-garde performance art for fetish clubs and art installations.

Playing from the 10th to the 21st of July at Theatre Works in St Kilda, AutoCannibal is emotionally compelling, visually spectacular, and completely original. Not to be missed.

This production is proudly supported by Australia Council Catalyst, Creative Victoria, City of Port Phillip, and Circus Oz.
