Peninsula Summer Music Festival

From fiery flamenco and French baroque opera, to the majesty of Grieg and gregarious Gypsy-Balkan swing, the 11th Peninsula Summer Festival (PSMF) presents a cornucopia of musical delights across Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, from 1 – 8 January 2018.  

The program features more than 50 Australian and international artists in 16 performances that will fill the region’s wineries and churches with music spanning centuries and continents. Whilst the festival is predominantly classic and new music, there are also concerts featuring flamenco, gypsy, jazz and an interactive show for kids and families.

After 11 years, this is the final program for Artistic Director Julia Fredersdorff who performs in Bach Sonatas with French harpsichordist and Baroque specialist Aline Zylberajch. The other international guest from France is conductor, organist and harpsichordist Martin Gester; and from Italy, celebrated virtuosic guitarists, Massimo Scattolin and Andrea Vettoretti.

Australian artists include London based Australian born international acclaimed Mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean, cellist Zoe Knighton - founding member of Flinders Quartet, one of Australia's finest chamber ensembles; Australian-Canadian Soprano Hannah Dahlenburg - renowned for her performances as Queen of the Night with Opera Australia; one of the world’s leading baroque performers, violinist Lucinda Moon; Soprano Bethany Hill - a passionate exponent of early music and Melbourne pianist and composer Stefan Cassomenos, one of Australia’s most vibrant and versatile musicians.
