Confessions of a Sensitive Male Stripper | Anonymous

It’s not every night you get the opportunity to hear the sordid details of the working life of male stripper. So used to the naked body, very little shocks the hardened (pun intended) Melbourne audiences. However, this anonymous performer of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s seedy subject kept the audience in titillated giggles if not loud raptures of laughter.

The “anonymous” tag only went so far, as the cowboy costumed comedian hid his face from view and made it difficult for the audience to engage with his story. While funny, charming and with a banging body, Anonymous kept the audience at bay, his story more a work of fiction than a “confession”.

The Elephant and Wheelbarrow was a perfect venue for this foreigners performance, and the crowd of eager punters were kept entertained within the 30-minute performance. A short show by comedy festival standards, but not without its moments. A few key jibes at some local villains and a striptease that may very well scar me for life, Confessions of a Sensitive Male Stripper has the potential to be a hilarious romp through the underworld of the often forgotten world of male dancers.
