It's Rocket Science | Rock Chick and Science GeekScience is for nerds, geeks, dweebs, dorks! Right? Rock’n’roll on the other hand…well it rocks! An Adelaide duo has come up with a formula that combines science and rock for kids at the Garden of Unearthly Delights

The result is a really cool rock’n’roll rocket show.

Rock Chick, aka performer and songbird Susy D, teams up with Science Geek David Lampard, who is also known as the host of children's tv science program “Y?” Together they teach science through banter, experiments and rock songs.. It’s not rocket science! Well actually it is.

This fusion of science and rock teaches the laws behind flight, airplanes and rockets. Lift, gravity, thrust and drag take on a whole new meaning when viewed through the lens of this dynamic duo. Every day items such as beach balls, garbage bags, balloons, tea bags and film canisters, are launched into the audience and to the top of the Bosco theatre’s tall tent-like ceiling. Volunteers, both children and adults, are commandeered to test the scientific theories.

Like many shows for modern young audiences Rock Chick and Science Geek face the challenge of maintaining the kind of razzle-dazzle momentum that captivates attention for more than an hour. Nevertheless the capable couple (with band) manages to deliver a rocket-powered show to a sell-out audience.
