Leigh Warren has danced his way from suburban Kogarah to the world. His mentors have been many and include his grandmother who introduced him to islander dance, his motor cycle racing father who arranged for his son to be trained in classical ballet, and Sir Robert Helpmann and Dame Peggy van Praagh who 'kicked him out of the nest' of the Australian Ballet at the ripe old age of twenty-two and encouraged him to explore the world of choreography.
Warren formed his own company Leigh Warren & Dancers in 1993 and he and the company have toured Australia and the world to much acclaim.
In October Warren brings his latest work, the aptly named Wanderlust, to Adelaide and Canberra. In the lead up to this latest season, Warren took time out to speak with Australian Stage's Jan Chandler.
