The 2007 entries on the piquant theme The Seven Deadly Sins (pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth; just in case you needed reminding!) have proved an inspiring choice for W.A. writers this year with 141 entries received by the closing date on Friday March 30th 2007.
The panel of judges has been announced and they are Benj D’Addario, Jenny MacNae, Hellie Turner and John Senczuk. Their respected theatre credentials represent the highest levels in the theatre disciplines of designing, acting, writing, directing and production.
Belinda Dunbar, Director of Brainbox Theatre Project said today “I have been absolutely delighted with the quality and quantities of entries received and the judges have had an extremely hard task deliberating over the eight winning entries.”

These eight finalists will now have their monologues performed by professional performers in
a five performance finals season Downstairs at the Maj. Emily MC Lean will direct. The format of the evening will be four short monologues followed by an interval and then the final four short performances.
On the final evening of the season the winner of the judges’ choice will be announced and a first prize of $3000.00 awarded.
Each night of the season audience members will have a chance to vote for his/her favourite monologue. The Hawaiian Group Peoples’ prize of $1000.00 will presented to the author of the monologue which has been voted most popular choice by all the audiences who have attended the shows.
