Melba Foundation wins ABaF Giving Award
Tuesday, 11 September 2007 10:51
The Melba Foundation is the recipient of the ABAF State Giving Award, announced at a special ceremony at the Sofitel Hotel yesterday.

The Melba Foundation won the award for their work and support of emerging young musicians.

The Melba Foundation has signed recording contracts with TinAlley, David Tong, Ng brothers: twin cellists, pianist Anthony Romaniuk, Horn Player Lin Jiang, ANAM students, and violinist Kristian Winter. These CDs will be released progressively over the next couple of years.

Maria Vandamme, Executive Director of The Melba Foundation accepted the award.  'There is nothing more exciting than discovering new talent. They are the finest soloists of their generation and these recordings will be a legacy for future generations – who knows where they will be in 20 years, and what they will become.

Recordings are an exciting document of where they are at the start of their careers. These are without question valuable artists with something new and fresh to say about the music they perform – they have vision, ideals and artistry, and are brimming with vitality'.

The Melba Foundation was founded specifically to promote Australia’s finest classical musicians and artists on the international and national markets.

The Foundation has embarked on a five-year program that includes the production, distribution and marketing of 35 CD recordings involving many of Australia's most distinguished musicians and emerging artists.

These CD recording have been made possible with Commonwealth Government Funding through the Australia Council  and assisted by a grant from the Potter Foundation.
