Indigo Joins youth festival high! |

Backbone Youth Arts is proud to announce its partnership with leading Queensland property group, Indigo, for the STAND OUT 2high Festival for young and emerging South-East Queensland artists in music, performance and visual arts to be held at the Brisbane Powerhouse in November.
Now in its fourteenth year, the annual festival first came to the attention of Indigo’s Executive Chairman, Laurie Truce in 2005.
“The 2high Festival is a professional platform for young artists to present their work in a leading Queensland arts venue like the Brisbane Powerhouse,” Mr Truce said.
“It is also a unique development opportunity for young event producers to gain hands-on experience in festival and event management and valuable knowledge from the cultural industry professionals who mentor them through the eight month process.“
Mentors involved in this year’s festival include Libby Anstis, General Manager, Queensland Theatre Company, Collette Brennan, Director – The Edge, State Library of Queensland and Chris Bowen, Director – Music and Dance, Arts Queensland.
Backbone Youth Arts Artistic Director, Fraser Corfield said that Indigo’s support of 2high Festival will help to strengthen the framework and opportunities the event provides for young Queenslanders forging careers in the arts.
“Indigo’s passion for their work is echoed through the vigour, imagination and dedication of the festival’s coordinators and artists.”
“Together, Indigo and Backbone Youth Arts are committed to providing the foundation to enable festival participants to develop and showcase their skills to the wider community.”
Indigo is also supporting the 2high mentoring initiative ‘Launch and Networking Event’ on 31 October at the Brisbane Powerhouse. This event will encourage the festival’s participants to network with their artistic peers and connect with key Brisbane cultural industry representatives and corporate guests and to celebrate their achievements.
The 2high Festival, the name developed from a circus move called ‘two high’ in which two performers stand on each other’s shoulders, will run from 16 – 17 November at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
