Believed by many to be the most harmonious proportions in art and music, The Fibonacci Sequence is the United Kingdom’s real life example of its name sake. At the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in July in Townsville, these five enormously talented artists have promised to delight with both words and music, and show a little of what’s behind their musical perfection. Famed as one of the world’s best chamber ensembles, The Fibonacci Sequence includes Cello - Benjamin Hughes; Clarinet - Julian Farrell; Piano - Kathron Sturrock; Viola - Yuko Inoue, and Violin - Jack Liebeck. The famous five will perform as one and allow audiences an up close and personal on Saturday July 5 in Concert Conversations with Artistic Director Piers Lane. They will also perform individually in a range of musical performance throughout the festival (interviews and images available). “First up in the Concert Conversations series is UK’s Fibonacci Sequence. The history of this ensemble is closely related to one name: Kathron Sturrock. As founder of the group, she has built the ensemble into an important presence on the world chamber music scene. During the performance they promise to master two pieces from Bruch’s Eight pieces for Piano, Viola and Clarinet as well as Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello in this morning concert,” said General Manager Yvette Brathwaite-Bragg. The internationally acclaimed Australian Festival of Chamber Music will be staged over 10-days from July 3 to 12, hosted by Artistic Director, the London-based, Australian-born pianist, Piers Lane. Featuring an outstanding core music program of 24 concerts with 28 world class artists performing 80 compositions along with 20 emerging artists, the AFCM is the largest chamber music festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
