Adelaide Fringe looks to the future Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Since going annual in 2007, the Adelaide Fringe has big plans which will continue to see the event grow from strength to strength.

Adelaide Fringe CEO, Sandy Verschoor, today announced the dates for the Adelaide Fringe right through to 2012:

2008: Fri Feb 22 – Sat March 16
2009: Fri Feb 27 – Sat March 21
2010: Fri Feb 19 – Sat March 13
2011: Fri Feb 18 – Sat March 12
2012: Fri Feb 24 – Sat March 17

“We have set dates for the next five years so that we can provide consistency for touring artists and to solidify our position as an ‘arts market’ opportunity in the southern hemisphere,” said Ms Verschoor.

“It will also allow us to firmly establish the Fringe on the annual national tourism calendar,” she said.

The Adelaide Fringe is the second largest Fringe in the world (after Edinburgh) and largest arts festival in the southern hemisphere. It is now an annual event which attracts more than 4000 artists from all over the world.

The Fringe attracts audiences nearing a million people at ticketed events and free events like Fringe Family Weekend (March 1 and 2) and the massive Opening Night Street Party (Friday Feb 22.)

With only four months until the 2008 Fringe kicks off, the Fringe Team is gearing up for what promises to be another memorable event.

The 2008 Fringe guide will be available on Wednesday Jan 9 in The Advertiser newspaper. Head to www.adelaidefringe.com.au to book tickets.
