Aida

American soprano Latonia Moore makes her Opera Australia debut in the title role of the Ethiopian princess in this popular production – Graeme Murphy’s spectacular vision of Ancient Egypt.

Murphy fills the stage with kaleidoscopic movement and lavish costumes as the massed chorus, dancers and soloists dazzle the eyes and delight the ears with some of the most thrilling music in opera.

Verdi’s epic drama of the princess sold into slavery also stars Rosario La Spina as her lover, the Egyptian general Radamès. Milijana Nikolic, as Aida’s mistress Amneris, who also loves Radamès, completes a fatal triangle: will Aida choose love or her country?

Performance commences at 7.30pm.
Performed in Italian with English surtitles.
Running time: Approximately three hours and ten minutes, with two twenty-minute intervals.
