A series of spectacular multi-artform performances, Nkumba Rumba kicks off with a celebration of Democratic Republic of Congo Independence Day. Featuring some of Melbourne’s most acclaimed multi-talented multicultural performers – Passi Jo (DRC), Patrice Lumumba (DRC), Asanti Dance Theatre’s Appiah Annan and Julius Sackey (Ghana), accompanied by live drumming from Javier Fredes (Chile) and Kojo Noah Owusu (Ghana) and stunning visuals by Pam Kleemann (Aust). Nkumba Rumba will transform the Docklands precinct into Melbourne’s ‘heart of danceness’! Experience rhythms that embody sensuality, vitality and cheeky humour… witness dance moves that make your jaw drop and your pelvis rock!!!
