Be part of this massive cultural celebration as the magnificent Fitzroy Town Hall opens its doors for a feel-good street party guaranteed to get your hips shaking. Napier Street will be closed off for an all day block party with three stages of nonstop world music and a vibrant cultural marketplace. Dance to rhythms from Sudan to Tibet whilst inhaling the aromas of an Ethiopian coffee ceremony and tasty authentic foods from all corners of the globe. Take a break from dancing to join in some free cultural workshops, story telling circle, henna tattoos, hair braiding, kid’s activities, art therapy and much more. Now in its ninth year this one of a kind grass roots event will unearth and showcase some incredible talents from some of Melbourne’s most newly arrived communities who have been supported through Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Visible music mentorship project.
Featuring:
BITSAT SEYOUM (ETHIOPIA), ANBESSA GEBREHIWOT (ETHIOPIA), TENZING YESHI (TIBET), KAIRO (SENEGAL), LA DESCARGA (AFRO-COLOMBIA), RAS JAH KNOW (IVORY COAST), ACUCOCHI (ETHIOPIA/CUBA), KOORIE TIDDAS CHOIR, JERUSALEM GOSPEL RUMBA (CONGO), CLIK FABLICE & MACC-TOO’ (BURUNDI/RWANDA), THE BURUNDIAN DRUMMERS
