EMERGE will be staged at Chapel Off Chapel from 10-14 December 2008. This will be the company's fourth performance season at the venue.
The audition for EMERGE will be held at 309 Doncaster Road North Balwyn 3104 commencing at 1.30 on Sunday 12th October. The audition will consist of 4 elimination rounds commencing with a classical ballet class taken by ex Australian Ballet Soloist Justine Miles, second round will be pointe work, third round will consist of a contemporary workshop with choreographers Sharon Fernandez and Robert Kelly, then the final round will look at the partnering skills of the dancers auditioning.
EMERGE will consist of 4 world premiere works by 4 young Australian emerging choreographers; Timothy Harbour (Husband of Australian Ballet Company Principal dancer Madeline Eastoe), Simon Hoy (currently choreographing in Switzerland), Robert Kelly (ex Principal dancer of several German Ballet Companies), and Sharon Fernandez the current Principal dancer of the Melbourne Ballet Company.
The Melbourne Ballet Company is a boutique, professional company and a non-for-profit organisation that produces works that are challenging in a neo-classical/contemporary genre, exploring depth of expression and a presentation that is contemporary, yet refreshing and engaging with its audience.
