| Job Description |
After the success of the 2006 and 2007 HotBed Program (The Laramie Project, Falling Petals and Woyzeck), Black Swan Theatre Company is now looking for a new cohort of performers and theatre-makers to work alongside the company throughout 2008.
The HotBed is an 8 month program during which a selection of emerging performers and theatre-makers are involved in an extensive professional mentoring initiative. The program for 2008 includes the productions The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht and the World Premiere of Portraits of Modern Evil by Melbourne writer Robert Reid. There is also the opportunity to be involved in play readings, secondments to Black Swan Theatre Company mainhouse productions and exclusive master classes with national and international visiting artists.
We are looking for 6 performers and a set and costume designer to participate in 2008. Please note that previous participants in The HotBed are able to audition for next year’s program.
All performers who would like to be considered for auditions please forward your head shot, C.V. and a short response to (no more than 500 words): “Why I want to be part of Black Swan’s HotBed group in 2008” to chantelle@bstc.com.au by the 10th of SEPTEMBER. Auditions will be held on Thursday 13th September. You will be required to attend one of the two group auditions which will be between 3 – 4.30PM or 6 – 7.30PM. Call backs for performers will be held on Tuesday 18th September.
All designers who would like to be considered for an Interview please forward your C.V. and a short response to (no more than 500 words): “Why I want to be part of Black Swan’s HotBed group in 2008” to chantelle@bstc.com.au by the 10th of SEPTEMBER. Interviews will be held in the 2nd week of September.

Black Swan Theatre Company through The HotBed aims to mentor, stimulate, challenge and showcase a selection of Perth’s most daring and challenging theatre-makers. We are looking for theatre-makers who want to take risks. Who want to push themselves into new arenas. Who want to investigate ways of creating truly unique theatre and storytelling that communicates to the next generation!
