LASALLE College of the Arts is a leading tertiary institution for the contemporary arts in the region, with the widest range of specialist diploma and degree programmes. The institution’s goal is to produce students who will emerge as reflective arts makers, constantly challenging notions and ideas, trained to explore new interpretations of the creative disciplines through experimentation, collaboration and social commentary.

Students in the programmes will benefit from being under the direction of established Australian talents who are now lecturers at LASALLE.

These include, Tony McGill, Programme Leader for Musical Theatre and previously one third of Combo Fiasco, the trio that was Australia’s most established cabaret act, and Edith Podesta, Programme Leader for Acting, who is a NIDA graduate and who has worked extensively across Australia, as an actor, director, choreographer, movement consultant and teacher for organisations like MTV and on television programmes like All Saints and Blue Heelers. Lindsay Vickery, Head of LASALLE’s School of Contemporary Music is an established musician, composer and performer across Australia, Europe, the USA and Asia who has done works for acoustic and electronic instruments as well as solo and opera pieces and been commissioned by numerous groups for concert, dance and theatre.

Students at LASALLE, of which 30% are international, will have a myriad of opportunities that studying in Singapore affords them, amongst which are the numerous doors that will open as a result of the country being a gateway to the Asia Pacific region.

Ashleigh Fleming, a Sydneysider and a graduating student from LASALLE’s Musical Theatre programme was recently signed on to an exclusive contract to work in Hong Kong Disneyland immediately after graduation through the theme park’s first-ever Singapore auditions, arranged by LASALLE.

This year’s Acting and Musical Theatre graduates were also given the chance to perform for renowned Australian Casting Director Barbara Leane and to gain pointers from her as well as to attend masterclasses conducted by her. Leane was invited by LASALLE to Singapore as a guest to its annual Acting and Musical Theatre Industry Showcase for graduates of the two programmes.
