Circus Oz Print
They’ve been cracking up the rest of the world, and now they’re coming home to Melbourne to knock your socks off.

Boy do they get around! Since they were last in Melbourne they’ve spent five weeks performing a sold out season on 42nd Street, New York, blissed out the locals in Hawaii, sold out again at the Perth International Arts Festival, played outdoors to remote communities across the Pilbara and the Kimberley, and to full houses in Darwin and Alice Springs, and will be performing their first ever two-week season in the Sydney Opera House before heading south. It's starting to look like a drum-tight, well-oiled, globetrotting, well-travelled road show!

Along the way they’ve invented a bunch of new acts for the show. An all-dancing bounce ball act inspired by the legendary 30's cabaret performer Josephine Baker, a lyrical crystal-balls manipulation by their tutu-clad roadie Skull, a VERY dangerous Dive of Death from the Singing Stuntman and some truly astounding live music. And enlisted two new recruits - acrobat and hula girl extraordinaire, Jess Love and drummer Julia Watt.

Jess began a love affair with circus in 2000 and graduated from the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) in 2003. She has performed on the street, in tents (big and small), in theatres, and lots of dingy pubs. Jess has strutted her stuff in seven different countries with five different companies. She joined Circus Oz at the end of 2006 for their Hawaii tour.

Julia’s first gig with Circus Oz was in Perth this year. After completing her Advanced Diploma of Music Performance at NMIT she played with a couple of bands before being offered the opportunity to join all-girl band “Syrup” and tour to the Middle East and South Korea. While juggling playing in four bands and two drumming teaching jobs she ran off to join Circus Oz.

Artistic Director Mike Finch said, "We've found two new strong female performers. They both have amazing skills and just as importantly, lots of attitude.

“We can't wait to get back home to Melbourne, it's been a long road...  If you missed us last time, or if you need another hit to cure your pre-election blues, we'll see you in the tent.”

The original and the best, wholly made in Australia, Circus Oz was born in Melbourne in 1978 and since then has been wowing audiences in over twenty-seven countries across five continents. They’ve created something entirely original and fresh that reflects Australian culture - a show that is hilarious and intelligent, spectacular, funny, topical and beautiful.  And at the same time embracing gender equality, collaboration, humanity, social justice and a good time for all.

Catch them before they leave our fair shores for New Zealand, Hong Kong, Mexico and America.

It really is incredible fun for all the family.
