 Acclaimed for showcasing the depth and diversity of Australian female singer-songwriters, Deborah Conway’s Broad concert series returns in 2007 with a national tour starting in Brisbane in August.
Keeping with the format which has drawn rave reviews for the first two series, consummate performer Deborah is joined on stage this year by four inspirational young women who are dramatically influencing the musical landscape, each presenting a different musical style in their unique way.
Headlining this year’s Broad is Urban Music Awards’ Best Female Artist R& B soul/ pop diva Jade MacRae, Nashville-based country/ rock guitarist Anne McCue, New Buffalo mastermind Sally Seltmann with her ethereal tones and WA’s 2006 Performer of the year (WAMI) Abbe May of rock’n’roll band The Fuzz and blues band The Rockin’ Pneumonia.
In 2005 and 2006, Broad demonstrated the magic that can be generated by combining the talents of some of the country’s best performers. Previous performers have included Ruby Hunter, Katie Noonan, Ella Hooper, Clare Bowditch and Kate Miller-Heidke.
“Broad 2005 and 2006 were both brilliant outings, we received standing ovations in every city and sell out shows. On stage the feeling was inspiring, listening and participating in what could be described as the greatest chick band touring. I had a ball and I’m champing at the bit for another one this year, the possibilities are delicious,” says Deborah Conway.
A recipe for uninhibited success, this year’s Broad promises to demonstrate just why Australian singer-songwriters are making a name for themselves at home and abroad. Five extraordinary artists, five unique styles, one great concert, this is BROAD.
