Take Two! Print
Expect the unexpected from acclaimed leading ladies Judi Connelli and Suzanne Johnston when they launch the Australian tour of their ground-breaking new cabaret show, Take Two! in Brisbane in June.

Accompanied on piano by Michael Tyack, the two pre-eminent performers promise plenty of surprises in their new show, a long-awaited sequel to their ARIA award winning CD Perfect Strangers, as they stretch their talents to new dimensions.

“We have found songs for this show that will thrill and delight the audience.  Ever exploring new avenues for us as performers - it's cabaret at it's best,” says Judi.

“This show takes us to another level in our musical collaboration, and extends us both individually. A few surprises all round!” says Suzanne.

In their own remarkable way, Judi and Suzanne sing songs by some of the most famous lyricists and composers of the 20th Century from Johnny Mercer (Too Marvellous for Words, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) and Marc Blitzstein (The Cradle Will Rock, The Threepenny Opera) to Harold Arlen (The Wizard of Oz, Let’s Fall in Love) and Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, West Side Story) and many others.

Judi‘s widely acclaimed career spans opera, musical theatre, cabaret and the recording of five solo albums. In Brisbane she is well remembered for her inspired performances in the hugely successful Australia’s Leading Ladies at the 2004 Brisbane Festival and also as Mrs Lovett in Opera Queensland’s performance of Sweeney Todd in 2003. Judi has performed with symphony orchestras and show bands and has played some of the great leading roles in musical theatre. Her remarkable talent has been acknowledged in both Australia and the United States.

Suzanne is equally at home in the great opera houses of the world and on the smallest cabaret stage. She has performed major operatic roles for Opera Australia, most recently in Brisbane as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, and at Salzburg and Glyndebourne Festivals as well as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. She has also performed in the famed Oak Room in New York’s Algonquin Hotel and throughout Australia in recitals, concerts and cabaret.

A blissful reunion of two of Australia’s leading ladies, Take Two! is set to be dramatic, humorous and undoubtedly poignant.

The Australian tour of Take Two! is proudly supported by Christine Dunstan Productions, Playing Australia and Arts on Tour NSW.
