Mark Twain said “…no
man of right feeling, can contemplate the lumbering and slovenly lying
of the present day without grieving to see a noble art so prostituted.”
Samuel Clement’s (Twain’s real name!) had a point. We may as well lie well.
Brad Oakes has lost count of lies he has told in 2 decades of
comedy. He’s lied on television or just to make a story funnier -
sometimes just for practice. Now he exposes some of the deficiencies in
everybody’s daily deceit. But there’s hope.
Most people lie to others once or twice a day and deceive about 30 people per week. Professor Ford, University of Alabama
The average is 7 times per hour if you count all the times people lie to themselves. Prof Ford (ibid)
In fact there are lies in this release
Oakes is a stand-up comedian who works all over the country.
He’s lectured on comedy at University, written for television, radio
and is one of Australia’s finest ballroom dancers. Hmm!?
Oakes, straight-talking and confident, and relaxed, is a master at
noticing that the glass, if not half empty, at least has a fly drowning
in it. Melb Age, 2002
