A new Pinter in a new space
A
man questions a woman in a sexual and psychological game of cat and
mouse. In a play where nothing is what it seems, reality interweaves
with fantasy, the domestic with the political, and brutality with
reckless curiosity.
Ashes to Ashes is a recent work of Nobel laureate and master playwright Harold Pinter. Characteristically dark, elusive and poetic, Ashes to Ashes is the culmination of one of the greatest playwriting careers of the 20th century.
Ashes to Ashes will be the first theatre production in a new space at fortyfivedownstairs. Tailor made for the unique qualities of the space, Ashes to Ashes will be an exciting introduction of a new theatrical venue to the Melbourne theatre scene.
The play features a stellar cast including Simon Stone (Jindabyne, Kokoda, MDA) and Sara Gleeson (Last Man Standing, Blue Heelers, Something in the Air).
Ashes to Ashes
will be directed by award winning director Sam Strong (winner best
director Melbourne Short and Sweet Festival 2005) whose credits
include: Not I/The Stronger, Miss Julie, Closer, and assistant director
of Sydney Theatre Company production of Pinter’s Old Times. Sam is also
the newly appointed coordinator of the Writer’s Arm of the Red Stitch
Actor’s Theatre.
