MONDAY 5 JANUARY: MUSIC FROM THE HARP
HARP RECITAL
FEATURING Marshall McGuire
Treat yourself to a morning of delight with renowned harpist, Marshall
McGuire, a leading interpreter of contemporary and classical
repertoire. This sumptuous opening concert for Summer Series 2009
features inspiring music from Bach, Handel and Britten. Marshall is a
leading exponent of Australian composers and will showcase music from
Peggy Glanville-Hicks, Ross Edwards and Graeme Koehne.
MONDAY 12 JANUARY: ENCHANTED JOURNEY
TRUMPET RECITAL
FEATURING Yoram Levy accompanied by Anna Sleptsova
Principal Trumpet of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra heralds an
exhilarating celebration of music from around the world. Take a roller
coaster ride in Russian lyrical style with the music of Goedicke, be
seduced by love songs from Sabin and be evoked by the sultry Samba
Espanola by Méndez.
MONDAY 19 JANUARY: VIRTUOSITY
VIOLIN RECITAL
FEATURING Shaun Lee-Chen accompanied by Adam Pinto
Compelling
violinist Shaun Lee-Chen, winner of the 2007 Symphony Australia Young
Performer of the Year explores the drama of music for violin. This
dynamic performance will feature the great sonatas of Bach (G minor),
Brahms (D minor) and the highly contrasted moods and colour of Ravel’s
Tzigane.
TUESDAY 27 JANUARY: LEONTYNE ‘N’ ELLA
VOCAL RECITAL
FEATURING Aivale Cole accompanied by David Wickham
Be captivated by rising star soprano Aivale Cole in one of her final
performances in Perth. Be enthralled and delighted by this beautiful
selection of her favourite arias and songs, featuring music of Mozart,
Puccini, Gershwin and Cole Porter.
All Summer Series recitals commence at 11am and conclude shortly before 12pm.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
