Kieran Butler’s stand up and music show concerning the tragedy and comedy of being a Magpie fan has enjoyed critical acclaim and sell out status for over two years.
Since emerging at the 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival the show has travelled to Hobart, the Adelaide Fringe, and played to full houses in Brisbane and Sydney just prior to Collingwood interstate victories in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
Songs from the show – regarding Collingwood identities Chris Tarrant, Martin Clarke, Jason Cloke & Eddie McGuire - have received radio airplay and press coverage.
Collingwood ruined my Life has been seen by past players Rene Kink and James Manson, and past president Ranald MacDonald. Kieran has also appeared at a number of Collingwood Football Club official functions.
Kieran is a regular contributor to SEN radio in Melbourne with his comical and topical parody songs about all sports; including the youtube favourite “Tsonga Song”.
At the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe, Kieran received a four star review from The Scotsman for his show “Che Guevara on the Fringe – Evonne Keron Strikes Back” - which was also an official sell out show. Whilst in Edinburgh at the time, Kieran wrote and recorded a song for Nathan Buckley at 9pm Friday night (UK time) and promptly emailed the mp3 back to SEN in Melbourne where it was played on air just four hours later.
Kieran recently launched a campaign to become Collingwood’s next president and travelled to Sri Lanka where he recruited international cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya to play for Collingwood for $50 a game in 2009.
