Navigating and Negotiation Connections
Presented by Metro Arts Biz Arts MAkers
Wednesday 5 November, 9am to 5pm, Metro Arts
Book online at www.metroarts.com.au or phone 07) 3002 7100

The success of any production is pinned on the people surrounding it – the artists, producers, funders, and venues, to name a few. So how do independent artists connect with the most appropriate people to present their performance work and ultimately get it on the road? What is the key to building strong relationships with partners? How much can artists expect from partners and what will they expect in return? Navigating and Negotiating Connections brings together festival managers, venue managers, touring facilitators and curators, producers and artistic directors who support independent artists to present quality works to local, national and international markets.

This facilitated discussion comes at a relevant time to engage with the new funding guidelines for Australia Council’s Theatre Board. Independent artists must now secure ‘presenting partners’ – including venues, festivals, other theatre companies, museums or independent producers – to provide the essential resources to present work to the public. This forum will demonstrate where to find presenting partners, how they add value, and why a common vision between artist and partner is the key to success.

This project has been assisted by the Australia Government through the Australian Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
