When was the last time you made THE GREAT ESCAPE from something, someone or someplace?

Well, Playback Theatre Sydney would love to hear your story!

Playback Theatre is a company with a twist: their shows have no script. Instead, audience members are invited to share their life experiences, anecdotes, dreams, nightmares and triumphs while actors play the different roles. The players interpret the stories through movement, mannerisms and music.

The spontaneity of the performances means anything can happen. The interpretations may take the most unexpected turns, becoming dramatic, funny or confronting. It's through this free-flowing atmosphere that the conventional theatrical barriers between the performer and audience are broken down to create a communal atmosphere.

Participation is welcomed and encouraged but not compulsory.

The experience is voluntary, so shy audience members are welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the drama unfolding in front of them. Loud and proud participants are encouraged to share their personal stories on a designated topic.
