If you can have extreme sport then Chocolate Monkey is extreme story telling!
After sell-out seasons in Melbourne and Dublin the Seymour Centre is proud to present Irish writer/performer John-Paul Hussey’s CHOCOLATE MONKEY in the Downstairs Theatre from 14 to 25 October.
Described as ‘the man with a thousand accents and the physicality of a human dynamo’, skilled actor, mimic and story-teller John-Paul Hussey entertains his audience with bizarrely interconnected personal experiences of life from being arrested in a half-built tunnel, doing a stock-take of the entire Melbourne train track system, to being jilted and losing 20 kilos, all spun together using a thousand voices from Sean Connery to Kevin Costner.
John-Paul Hussey will take you on a non-stop crazy journey in this hilarious, often poignant and very true story interspersed with an eclectic array of characters including a mad Irish funeral director, a Greek train track expert, a pig chef and a very sexy troupe of naked mud-smearing dancers.
CHOCOLATE MONKEY was named best show of the year by ABC Radio National and nominated for two Green Room Awards.
“Irrestistible..(John-Paul Hussey is) a consummate performer...a mixture of energy, sly wit, irony and charm” The Age
“Cleverly interconnected, visually stunning...and hilarious” The Irish Times
“The show is 1 1/2 hours of controlled lunacy – by turns bamboozling, compelling and hilarious – held together by the charisma and energy of its performer” The Age
