Direct from Paris comes Ronan/Ronan with his universe of surreal musical madness. Setting up camp at Brisbane Powerhouse for a performance on October 23, 2008, his performance will be one of many as he tours the nation in eclectic style.
Going on the road to promote his new album Copie/Colle, Ronan/Ronan, French surrealist, musician, cabaret clown, will be performing for one night at Brisbane Powerhouse as part of its Cabaret Feast, which also includes performances by Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen and Camille O’Sullivan in its delicious program.
In a joyous bric-a-brac of colour, turntable decks and treasures, Ronan/Ronan creates his poetic, lyrical mayhem, performing light-hearted yet haphazard songs.
On the stage Ronan creates his music completely live. Already performing in the beautiful pristine forests of the Cape York and several hot spots on the NSW coast, this one man travelling orchestra creates his own musical universe – amusing, entertaining and poetic all at the same time. Surrounded by an array of different acoustic instruments and a loop pedal, the Ronan/Ronan performance is visually amazing and teeters on the edge of comedy.
This surrealist musician is the lead performer of infamous Fils de Teuphu and his style and performance truly disregard musical labels. But Ronan/Ronan will deliver a polished variety of songs, executed with precision that makes this artist unusually engaging.
Ronan/Ronan will play anything from the banjo to a double bass made from a bucket, broomstick and rope in his DIY music attitude, which he says anyone can do.
“My music appeals to the heart and inner child of all audiences across the globe, it is playful and creative, and I have a lot of fun on stage. I like creating an atmosphere that is joyful, fun and brings out the playfulness and ‘joie de vivre’ in my audience,” says Ronan. “This is my first tour in Australia and first time out of France with Ronan/Ronan, and it is a new terrain of exploration and discovery of how to relate. Its a new world, a new deal.”
