A magnetic and subtly electrifying solo performance from on of New York’s most versatile artists.
Composer, graceful lyricist and accomplished performer on piano, accordion, guitar and saw, Hopkins has developed a unique presence as a storyteller and songwriter. Wrapped in a weary, country twang with a raspy undertone, Hopkin’s delicate yet emotionally forceful voice, has been compared to a wide range of vocalists including Billy Holiday, Natalie Merchant and Lotte Lenya; her lyrics evoking dark humour and sparkling intelligence in equal measure.
Hopkins is creator and performer of unique music/theatre works featuring her band Gloria Deluxe, which she formed in 1999. Gloria Deluxe has since produced six full-length albums and toured extensively around the United States.
Hopkins is also performing as part of Gloria Deluxe at Beck’s Bar @ Meat Market.
