John Gabriel Borkman | QTC Print
John Gabriel BorkmanJohn Gabriel Borkman was once the leading entrepreneur of his age, but in an act of selfish ambition he traded the love of his life for enormous power and wealth.

After a spectacular fall from grace Borkman has retreated to an icy exile in the upstairs room of his sister-in-law's house, estranged from his son and wife. He has not been outside for eight years.

During the family crisis, Borkman's sister-in-law Ella raised his son Erhart. When she arrives to re-claim him the scene is set for a passionate battle of wills between the two woman who were once rivals for Borkman's love. Meanwhile, Erhart must choose between following his heart or redeeming his family name.

Henrik Ibsen is widely acknowledged as the father of modern theatre, and his tale of choices and the consequences that arise from them is as timeless as his earlier masterpieces Hedda Gabbler and The Doll's House.
