Swing, scat and boogie-woogie baby – this is a beboppin’ musical journey of the free-wheelin’ kind!
Mini cool cats will be able to get down to a variety of grooves and original songs in Jazz Hot Baby! Introducing 2 to 5 year-olds to a range of jazz styles, this Babies Prom will highlight the talents of Sydney’s very own Kinderjazz.
Having performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, Kinderjazz records music specifically written to engage young children while simultaneously appealing to adults of all ages.
The 12-piece acoustic swing orchestra has won fans across the world and this fun interactive, musical concert will only add to their increasing popularity. Even Hollywood heartthrob Matt Damon has dubbed them “the Ocean's 12 of children's music”.
Whether parents are looking for ways to stimulate a developing young mind, want to introduce their children to the pleasures of music, or just want them to have fun, Kinderjazz will astound with its collection of blues, latin, ragtime, jazz, and swing music.
Renowned concert pianist Simon Tedeschi will fly in from Boston to perform alongside vocalists George Washingmachine and Debra Dicembre.
Joining them are Australian jazz greats Brendan Clarke (best jazz musician at 2007 Wangaratta Jazz Festival) on double bass, James Greening on trombone, alto saxophonist Glenn Henrich (James Morrison’s Big Band) and Jason Morphett (tenor sax)
The Kinderjazz line up also includes Aykho Akhrif (Latin percussion), Jamie Castrisos (drums), Al Davey (trumpet), Tom McElvogue (trumpet) and Vanessa Patterson (alto sax).
Influenced by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller (not to mention Sesame Street), Kinderjazz is passionately committed to bringing the magical world of music and its instruments to children of all ages.
Parents love it because its educational in a fun way, grandparents love it because it takes them back, and children love the rhythms and instruments. Kids are encouraged to become actively involved in the concert rather than remain passive listeners.
Kinderjazz has been invited to perform at Sesame Street’s 40th birthday celebrations in New York next year.
