Ground Floor is a curated program of old, new and not-quite finished theatre pieces from young artists aged 16 to 26 years from around Melbourne.
The program runs for the last two weeks of the 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival, from Wednesdays to Saturdays. As Ground Floor is part of Platform's 10th birthday celebrations each evening will be by gold coin donation. There will also be cake and door prizes from Madman Films, Voiceworks, Malthouse Theatre and Hopscotch Films!
"Ground Floor arose because Platform was already programming another event into the Fringe Festival," says Rose Godde, Manager of Company and Programs for Platform Youth Theatre. "This other performance event - Pestilence - was designed for Saturday afternoon performances only. To guarantee the space we booked out the Synergy Gallery for the whole fortnight, however, so we thought this might actually be a good chance to invite the young artists we've come across and any others to take advantage of the free space and fill it up with their own work."

• Collections of HOPE: Benjanj Ret Chol, Sundy Chol, Ban Diu, Nyanchew Gai, Phillip Allong Gai, Kosti Daniel Kien, Daniel Garang Makuei, Fiona Melrose Nelson, Akerbayo Okuot Oisiech, David Vincent
• Like tears in the rain: Diana Nguyen
• Canto II: Daniel Lammin, Simon Eales
• Importance of Being Furnace: Joe Brukner, Zac Cooper, Harley Hefford, Joe Ingleby, Tom Lew, Rohan Mirchandaney, Matt Nieison and Jake Strasser.
Platform Youth Theatre works with professional to create theatre with, for and by young people.
