A contemporary dance work which explores the ‘ridiculous’ in commonly accepted current social conventions and behaviors. Urban Ignition is a dynamic and innovative contemporary dance company for young people. This year they have teamed up with choreographer Claire Marshall (Pop Trash, Mod Cons, The Factory) to create an exciting new work that puts human behaviour at the forefront of social action. Developed from observations of human behaviour in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, the work will observe the ridiculous in our everyday. Consumed by our own agenda, pressed for time, mobile phone in hand, ipod over ears – we seem to be increasingly ignorant to our surrounds and show zero tolerance for what may get our way or cross our paths. Amusing yet with some darker contrasts, Obliviot will have us thinking about the way in which we engage with the world around us and the value of human connection.
