A SHUFFLE OF SONGS
F AGNOSS UE HFOSF
Performers: Jessica Aszodi soprano, Roland Peelman piano
A badge of musical devotion you can wear on your belt, or your lapel, or your sleeve – as they say in iPod-land. Or the illusion of a Japanese high school romance a la Rin Tsuchimi. Or a damn hot recital by young Melbourne chanteuse Jessica Aszodi.
New works by Smetanin and Dahm.
Rarely heard vocal exploits of Ligeti or Humble.
Two composers who met their maker early: Claude Vivier and Jani Christou.
All of it will be shuffled right there including:
Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) - Arc-en-Ciel d’innocence(1938)
Claude Vivier (1948-1983) - Hymnen an die Nacht (1975)
Robert Dahm (b.1981) - Hölderlinfragmente (2008) PREMIERE
Damien Ricketson (b. 1973) - Porfyrius’ Shuffle, a circle for piano (2006)
Jani Christou (1940-1970) - TS Eliot Songs (1955)
György Ligeti (1923-2006) - Der Sommer (1995)
Andrew Batt-Rawden (b. 1984) - Les Mots (2007)
Michael Smetanin (b.1958) - Songs from the Theatre (1996-2008) PREMIERE
