From Henry Manetta's scalding vocal transports to Adam Rudegeair's pianistic surrealism, these musical mavericks will explore original grooves from the realms of sonic blues to spatial jazz.
HENRY MANETTA AND THE TRIP
Henry Manetta, the mischievious Magus of Tongues, makes the music do his bidding. The elation of jazz, the heavy groove of funk, and the sublimeness of soul all bend to his will. He will twist your mind around the arcane rhythms and harmonies of the netherworld, backed by his beat cushion 'the Trip'. Also featuring Adam Rudegeair on piano, the walk around heaven saxophone of Ron Romero, Adam Spiegl's bass insouciance and, on the altar of the drum, Sam Hall.
'Imagine a world where Captain Beefheart and Tim Buckley decided to form a band with Sun Ra sitting in on keys. Defiantly individual and possessing a vocal range that almost defies belief, Henry draws influences from the grand traditions of jazz and soul, as well as the world of the avant-garde, to create music that is nothing if not unique.' Matthew Frederick, The Age.
"Henry bends the syllables and harmonies until they surrender or snap." John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald.

ADAM RUDEGEAIR'S ONE HAT BAND
Adam Rudegeair spreads himself across the Melbourne music scene like whipped cream along Natalie Portman's back. Equally at home in the deep deep pockets of funk as the soaring melodic transports of jazz, Adam and his One Hat Band will present a showcase of original compositions, featuring the mellifluous Anna Gilkison on vocals. Adam has been writing music and lyrics with Henry Manetta for the past 8 years, as well as composing for his funk band 'Neon Bogart'. This Fringe he will be digging into the hidden vault of his tunes that do not currently have a home in either band, or as he prefers to think of them, 'songs without worlds'.
"Adam Rudegeair Quartet from Melbourne was brilliant! Fresh, clever, sharp and edgy but also lyrical and moving." - talkfringe (Adelaide)
