The combination of horn, violin and piano seems to have confused audiences at early performances of Brahms’ Trio, but this much-loved work has well and truly demonstrated its popularity by now. One of Brahms' most openly romantic scores, the horn sonority adds a special colour to the work, particularly in the heartfelt Adagio.
