These concerts acknowledge 80 years of the WASO with a performance of the best known of Dvorak's works, his evocative From the New World symphony, famed for its slow Largo movement and first performed in Perth in 1928 by the 6WF orchestra - later to become the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
One critic declared that the extreme difficulties of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.3 "bar it from performance by any but pianists of exceptional technical powers". Yefim Bronfman's commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts show him to be a master of this legendary work.
