Witches, Daggers, Bed Wetting and Wizz Fizz
Bell Shakespeare and acclaimed children’s author Andy Griffiths have
collaborated to create Just Macbeth!, a delicious treat for Melbourne
and Sydney families.
Featuring a talking severed head, a garden gnome, marshmallows, Wizz
Fizz and bum jokes, Griffiths has reworked Shakespeare’s most haunting
thriller, Macbeth, to star Andy, Lisa, Danny and (yuck!) Jen from his
best-selling children’s books, Just Tricking!, Just Stupid and Just
Shocking!
Having concocted the witches’ magical brew as part of their school
project, our heroes suddenly find themselves on a freezing Scottish
heath with kings and queens, speaking very strange English. Andy in
particular begins to be seduced by the idea that he could finally be
boss!
Just Macbeth! is a riotous romp for kids (and the inner kid in us all!)
which will both delight the imagination and open up the amazing world
of Shakespeare. Whilst exploring the themes of Macbeth through the eyes
of Griffiths’ hilarious characters, the play also introduces a young
audience to Shakespearean language. Along the way there is plenty of
slapstick, as well as a peppering of in-jokes sure to thrill those
already familiar with Griffiths’ books.
Just Macbeth! is directed by Wayne Harrison, (Creative Director of the
New Year’s Eve Celebrations on Sydney Harbour and Director of the
Closing Ceremony for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games) and stars
Patrick Brammall (The Alice and Canal Road) as Andy, Tim Richards
(Sydney’s production of The Lion King) as Danny and Pippa Grandison
(Muriel’s Wedding) as Lisa.

funniest, most successful and versatile writers. He is the author of 17
books ranging from nonsense verse, short stories, novels and creative
writing textbooks, to a parent’s guide for creating a healthier
