Persophia Productions and Hot Seat Theatre present HILDA by the award-winning French-Senegalese playwright Marie NDiaye.
Hilda is a gripping exploration of power, manipulation and loneliness and is a cleverly veiled political metaphor. In 90 minutes this psychological thriller tells the story of a wealthy socialite who is consumed by her obsession with her new nanny, or is her obsession her new nanny’s husband? Susie Lindeman plays Madame Lemarchand in a world premiere translation of a script, which has been described as a tightrope for three actors to traverse.
“A tour-de-force. At once magnetic and repellent and awfully plausible” Diana Simmonds Stagenoise
“NDiaye’s observations about middle-class hypocrisy and the dehumanizing effects of economic bondage are resonant and elegantly made” Jason Blake Sun Herald Sept 2007
