Playwright Christine Evans has crafted a confronting, heartbreaking and unforgettable world, which is, on one leve, about the cruelties of life within the Woomera Detention Centre.
Deeper levels explore the human cost to those involved and the reverberations of the refugee experience on all Australians now and in the future.
Real events have been woven together with surreal dreamlike experiences where the town and its camp are at once a real place and also a place inside the desert of the mind.
Cultural differences, the breakdown in communication and the basic need to survive combine to provide an explosive atmosphere within the world of the play.
