CHECKPOINT ZERO

“Have you ever been involved in something that takes you over

against your owngood judgement?”

Checkpoint Zero takes you to a place where flirting with the enemy can become a dangerous pass time.

Sivan is a young Israeli soldier on checkpoint duty. Hani is aPalestinian university student who must travel through the checkpoint to get tohis classes. Both are trapped behind a 60-year-old wall that separates them andyet they are strangely dependent on each other.

In creating this play, Sidetrack has undertaken extensive research into both Palestinian and Jewish writing on the history of one of the world's longest lasting conflicts. The work references historical documents and statements from world leaders as well as anecdotal materials from Australians who have visited Palestine and Israel.

Checkpoint is a personal story of the effects of confict on current generations and the dilemmas involved in inheriting wounds from the past.
