Following the triumphant performances of Turangalila-symphonie in 2007
we celebrate the centenary of the great French composer Olivier
Messiaen with his deeply expressive symphonic meditations L'Ascension.
Those who have followed Simone Young's survey of the Mahler symphonies
will recognise this concert as a 'not to be missed' event. Young's
commanding presence on the concert platform will ensure that this
reading of Mahler's Symphony No.4, often considered his most popular
and approachable, will be an emotional journey.
