Garrick One Act Season Print

Garrick One Act Season Garrick Theatre is proud to present their annual One Act Season, a season of short plays, or short stories if you will, in preparation for the State One Act Drama Festival’s to be held later in the year.

This year two comedies will be presented at the historic club with a supper on each of the four performances in June, supper will include hearty homemade soup.

The first production of the evening will be A One Night Stand Off, a comedy about singles and social graces after a night that went so right goes so wrong the next morning. Written by new playwright and popular Garrick actor, Martin Lindsay who says this show is based on some real and no-so-real situations. Lindsay will co-direct his show with Dannielle Ashton, whose production of Indian Summer won the ITA State DramaFest last year.

This comedy revolves around two characters, Rachel and Greg, who after a night out on the town wake up together, much to the surprise of both. An awkward situation at the best of times, made all the more awkward as details from the previous night slowly filter back to them.

Lindsay says “it explores the singles’ point of view of relationships and commitment. Can love blossom between strangers?”

After a short interval, the second production of the evening is the black comedy The Trips, written by Dustin Robert Blakeman this is a hilarious tale of two hit-men and one hit-woman who are waiting for their hit to turn up. Whilst waiting, strange things start happening, leading to death and mayhem.

The audience will have to decide if any or all of the hit-men are suffering from The Trips. Directed by Tracee Royall this play has some coarse language. Royall continues to say that “having three superb actors, make directing extremely easy”.

The Garrick One Act season contains adult themes and some coarse language, therefore making this season suitable for adult audiences only.

With four shows only instead of the usual three week season, patrons will need to act quickly to secure their tickets with the season performing June 25, 26, 27 and 28, all shows commence at 8pm.
