Birrarung Ngargee Print
Birrarung Ngargee (River Gathering)

A collaboration between Boonwurung and Wurundjeri Elders; Aunty Carolyn Briggs and Aunty Joy Murphy-Wandin, students of Northland Secondary College and professional artists.

As part of PuppetLab @ Artplay and in conjunction with Puppets @ Fed Square, Birrarung Ngargee is a live feast of visual, vocal and percussive performance of traditional creation stories of the Birrarung (Yarra River) told by Aunty Carolyn and Aunty Joy, performed by the students of Northland Secondary College.

Facilitated by professional artists Jacob Boehme, Margie Mackay, Geraldine Morey, Virginia Bott and Tania Bosak, students will perform a combination of Bunraku/shadow and body puppetry, drumming, dance, choral and fire skills to transform the lessons of old into contemporary lore.

Please note: this is an outdoor performance, warm dress required
