QPAC in association with Queensland Folk Federation Inc. and Annie Peterson are proud to announce the line up for this year’s Women in Voice (WIV).
Now in its seventeenth year WIV is a highly anticipated annual event with an enviable reputation for quality performers and a guaranteed great night out. This year is no exception!
She has topped both the pop and jazz charts, blown away opera fanatics, performed alongside countless luminaries of myriad fields, and backs it all up by being an incredible songwriter, producer and keyboardist in her own right. The stunning Katie Noonan returns to light up the Playhouse stage.
Pearly Black, a soulful singer with a deep, rich voice of great strength, versatility and emotional depth also returns, along with Lil' Fi who is one of the original roots music performers and a dynamic entertainer.
One of the newcomers to WIV this year is Brisbane jazz singer Melissa Western whose goal is “to make as many people as possible feel that feeling you can only get from live performance, that zing that makes you remember what life and humanity and existence is all about!” Helping her make that a reality will be the very versatile actor, singer and songwriter Liz Buchanan.
In keeping with the WIV tradition of nurturing emerging artists, South Sea Indigenous performer Georgia Corowa completes the eclectic line up.
Together the 2008 WIVer’s will present a varied and diverse range of musical offerings, certain to please lovers of all styles of music.
With a powerhouse band of musicians under the direction of Helen Russell, the ever surprising, always entertaining Women in Voice 17 will rock the Playhouse for five stunning performances.
